The Department of Chemistry and Chemical educatin at the Faculty of Education of Charles University focuses on the preparation of future chemistry teachers for lower and upper secondary education levels. The study takes place at two levels: bachelor’s (three-year) and master’s (two-year), with the possibility of combining chemistry with mathematics, biology or health education. Graduates obtain a master’s degree (Mgr.) and can apply for a PhDr. in a rigorous procedure or a Ph.D. in didactics of chemistry.

The department emphasizes the quality of teaching. That is also why, for example, tests were introduced to verify the effectiveness of teaching and improve feedback from students. Taught courses are constantly updated to reflect current research trends, and emphasis is placed on linking qualification work with major research topics.
In the field of research, the department is strengthening its position in the didactics of chemistry and plans to create research teams that will focus on specific educational problems. The department also strives to cooperate on international projects and strives for the active involvement of doctoral students in teaching and research activities, thereby increasing their competitiveness at the international level.
Overall, our department offers a modern and innovative approach to teaching and research, supports the career growth of its students and graduates, and creates an environment for the development of quality education in the field of chemistry.
